I do everything hungry. EVERYTHING. I’m usually so obsessed with the billions of things that need to be done when I wake up that I get right to work doing them, completely forgetting to eat. I know, I know.. This is horrible! BUT here I sit at 9am and still no food in my belly, but I do have meals planned and in the grocery list! Now onto showing you how I do a weekly meal plan!
A few things I use to make my weekly grocery list are:
Grocery IQ – This lets me title my lists (which I do by store), put pricing in (which I guesstimate so I have an idea of what I will be spending and can budget accordingly), and it shorts my list by aisle (when you have Wal-Mart’s isles memorized this helps!). It also syncs everywhere so while I’m on my computer I have it up and it syncs to my phone and hubs phone so if we see something missing throughout the week it gets added quickly before its forgotten. This is an invaluable app for my family that has saved us SO much time and money.
Pinterest – I have so many boards, but my most useful board is called This Weeks Dinner. I add to it on Friday or Saturday and then use it for recipes all week. Once I have made that meal I edit the pin and add it back into my Food I Love board. It keeps me motivated by making things easy on me. The weeks I have prepared I have spent less money, eaten out less and had MUCH better food to eat at home.

I have made this a lot and different every time! I cut them up in bars (10 if I can manage), wrap them in plastic and throw them in the fridge. They probably only last about a week in the fridge and can be eaten cold or hot (hubs like ’em cold, I like ’em hot). I recommend freezing them if you want them to last a long time. the different things I throw into this casserole instead of fruit are:
- chocolate chips
- caramel sauce
- flax seeds
- pb2 (peanut butter powder)
You can add anything you would really like and they hold up so well!
I’m the bad kid who never follows the recipe. Sometimes it turns out bad, but most times it comes out the way I wanted. I usually make freezable breakfast burritos for hubs to grab quickly in the mornings, but I have been wanting to do grilled ones for a while.. they keep together better I think! My 10 burritos will have eggs, sausage, cheddar cheese, bacon, onion, avocado and cilantro.. mmmmm.
LUNCHES: These lunches are mainly for the hubs, but now that I’m a stay at home mom (officially on Tuesday!!) I will be making more so I can have quick fixes for the busy days ahead.
I have never made quinoa. I was pretty disappointed when I found out it’s just as many calories as any pasta out there, BUT daughter #2 is eating less and less meat so this is a creative way to get protein in her diet other than pepperoni pizza.
I make these without the chicken. Hubs always likes to have a different entrée so I make up little veggie cups for the sides and this is what inspired it! Much better than chips!! 😀
I make these all the time and instead of cooking up chicken I either use canned chicken or buy a cooked chicken from the deli. These are so quick to cook up and oh. so. yummy.
I haven’t made these yet, but I love hot pockets! they look really easy to make and I will be doing pepperoni pizza pockets and cheesy broccoli bites just like the photo! I can’t wait!
I make sure to have 5 dinners just in case. I don’t always have to make all 5 because of leftovers and such, but some weeks we are running through all the meals and still need more! Wednesday nights our church does dinners and Saturday’s we are usually doing all of our running around so we grab a treat at a restaurant somewhere, so the rest of the days I’m cooking away!
I could do egg salad sandwiches every night of the week and again I’m going to be editing up the recipe. I’m not a big fan of celery so that will be coming out and avocados are in season so those will be added in! I’ll probably have some chips for the kids with this meal.
I live in northern Wisconsin MANY hours away from my beloved Chick-Fil-A so I make these A LOT. I also make a chick-fil-a sauce that tastes so close to the real thing! It is 1/2 cup Ken’s Ken’s Steakhouse Honey Mustard Dressing (use this brand – no substitutes) and 1 tsp BBQ sauce. This recipe is all over the web, but I found it here. I get some frozen waffle fries and we reminisce about the south while we eat this meal..
For some reason I have been craving broccoli and cheese soup and I made a crock pot version that I just wasn’t impressed with so I thought I would try this one! we’ll see how it goes and we will have some toasted garlic french bread with this meal.
I have made this a lot too. It is a tried and true recipe that you just can’t get wrong and is so child friendly. I comes out looking as beautiful as the pictures and we usually eat way more than half a pan between the 4 of us. I’m going to try a homemade Texas Roadhouse roll with it that I found here.
The blog I got this from has such a fancy name for this that I can NOT pronounce at all and a different type of dipping sauce, but it’s really just a friend pork chop and we really like to eat this with a creamy tomatillo ranch. and I’m going to make a cauliflower casserole without the chicken to go along with it. Again, very easy and kid friendly. We tell the girls it’s chicken strips!!
I have to make one sweet thing for us a week and I think I’m going to try this!
A lot of cooking this week, but there is usually this much cooking happening anyways. In the end it saves me so much money and I live in a small town so the food isn’t very diverse so this ALSO helps me with some of those cravings that everyone knows they have!!
